1. Who provides the service

Lingivio is provided by Velniq Ltd, a private limited company registered in England and Wales under company number 17454810, whose registered office is shown in the identity block above. Velniq Ltd is the party contracting with you.

Contact details for every purpose in these terms are listed in the identity block and at the end of this document.

2. What the service does

You upload a document. We extract its text, translate that text with a large language model, and write the translation back into the original file so the layout, styling and non-text structure are preserved. Supported formats are listed in the app and currently include TXT, MD, CSV, HTML, SRT, XLSX, DOCX, PPTX, PDF and common image formats, each with its own size limit — 100 MB for a PDF, less for the formats where large bytes mean a hostile file rather than a real document. The app shows the limit for each format, and the limit we enforce is the one it shows.

Spreadsheet formulas, standalone numbers, codes, URLs and email addresses that make up a whole cell, run or line are excluded from translation and are passed through unchanged. Where such a value sits inside a sentence that has to be translated, the sentence is translated as a whole and the value is checked on the way back rather than withheld on the way out.

The service is also available as an HTTP API using keys you create in Settings. The same terms apply to API use.

3. Your account

You need an account to use the service. You must give accurate details, keep your password and API keys secret, and you are responsible for everything done through your account. Tell us immediately if you believe a key or password has been exposed.

You must be at least 18 years old and legally able to enter into a binding contract where you live. The service is not designed for or directed at children.

4. Acceptable use

Our Acceptable Use Policy forms part of these terms. In short: only upload content you have the right to upload, do not use the service to break the law or anyone else's rights, and do not attempt to overload, probe or circumvent the service or its limits.

You are responsible for the content you upload, including for having any consent or legal basis needed to send it to us and, through us, to the processors listed on our Subprocessors page. Uploads are scanned for malware and, where they carry images, checked for sexual or abusive imagery, as described in the Privacy Policy. We do not otherwise review your content, and we do not review translations before returning them to you.

5. Machine translation, and what it is not

Translations are produced by a large language model. No human translator is involved and no human review takes place before delivery. Machine translation is often very good, and it can also be confidently wrong: it can mistranslate terminology, invert a negation, misread a scanned page, or produce fluent text that does not say what the source said.

Our verification step checks structural and numeric integrity before a file is released: that numbers, codes, links and protected tokens survive the round trip and that the document structure is unchanged. It does not and cannot check that the meaning is correct.

Do not use the output as a substitute for a qualified human translator where accuracy carries legal, financial, medical or safety consequences. That includes contracts you intend to rely on, court and immigration filings, regulatory submissions, medical documents, and safety instructions. If accuracy matters at that level, have a qualified human check the translation.

Except where the law does not allow it to be excluded, the service is provided as is, with no warranty that a translation will be accurate, complete, or fit for any particular purpose.

6. Payments, plans and taxes

Purchases are sold and processed by Kelviq, Inc. (San Francisco, California, United States) as merchant of record. Kelviq is the seller of the transaction, issues the invoice, collects payment, and applies VAT or sales tax based on the billing details you give it. We never see or hold your card details.

Plans renew automatically for the same period until you cancel, at the price shown when you subscribed. You can cancel at any time through the billing portal; cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period and your plan credits remain usable until then.

Prices shown at checkout are the amounts Kelviq will charge, including any tax it is required to add for your location.

7. Credits and how they are consumed

Usage is measured in credits. What one credit covers depends on the file type and is published on the pricing page. When a translation starts, its credits are reserved from your balance. When it finishes successfully, the final credit count is debited. If it fails or you cancel it, the reservation is released and you are not charged.

Credits included with a plan are that period's allowance and expire at the end of the period they were granted for. They are not a stored balance and do not roll over. The free tier grants a monthly allowance on the same basis.

Credits are a usage entitlement, not money, not a payment instrument, and cannot be transferred or redeemed for cash.

8. Your files and how long we keep them

Uploaded documents and their translations are deleted automatically 24 hours after the upload starts, by a cleanup job that runs every minute. That single clock covers both the original and the translation, so the window in which you can download a finished translation is 24 hours minus however long the translation took. Download your output promptly.

We are not a storage service and keep no backup of your documents. Keep your own copy of anything you need.

9. Availability

We do not offer a service level agreement. The service may be unavailable for maintenance, and it pauses automatically when the translation compute backend is not reachable. That pause is deliberate: the system declines new paid work it cannot perform rather than accepting your credits and failing.

10. Rights in your content and ours

You keep every right you have in the documents you upload and in the translations produced from them. You grant us only the licence needed to run the service on your instruction: to store, extract, transmit to the processors listed on our Subprocessors page, translate, re-render and return your content. That licence ends when the content is deleted.

We keep every right in the service itself, including its software, interface, branding and documentation. Nothing here transfers those to you.

11. Limitation of liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot lawfully be limited, including for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or any mandatory rights you have as a consumer.

Subject to that, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost profits, revenue, goodwill or data, or for any loss arising from your reliance on the accuracy of a machine translation. Our total liability arising out of or in connection with these terms is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before the event giving rise to the claim.

12. Suspension and termination

You can stop using the service at any time and delete your account from Settings, which erases your data as described in the Privacy Policy. We can suspend or close an account for a serious or repeated breach of these terms or the Acceptable Use Policy, for non-payment, or where we are required to by law. Where it is reasonable to do so we will tell you first.

On termination your access ends immediately, unused plan credits are lost, and any files still within their 24 hour window are deleted on the normal schedule or sooner.

13. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. The current version and its effective date are always published here. For changes that materially affect your rights we will give notice in the app or by email before they take effect, and continuing to use the service after that date means you accept the new version.

14. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction. If you are a consumer resident in the EU or the UK, this does not deprive you of the protection of mandatory consumer law in your country of residence, and you may bring proceedings there.

Consumers in the EU may also use the European Commission online dispute resolution platform, though we prefer that you write to us first so we can try to resolve the matter directly.

15. Contact

Questions about these terms go to the legal contact address in the identity block. Questions about your account or a translation go to support.
